Established in 1996 by Guy and Eleanor Monfett, Dogwood Kennels was started by people who love dogs. Their two sons, Guy and Nathan, work at the kennel also, as Sanitation Engineers and Recreation Coordinators. Jessie Churchill, another of the kennel employees, prepares each dog's food and is looking forward to attending Veterinary School. Jessie also tends to the everyday needs of our guests and facilities.

Elly Monfett was the Groomer at Kingston Animal Hospital for 13 years, and left only after establishing her own business. She is an obedience and agility instructor for the Ulster Dog Training Club. She also instructs a 4H Muttmasters Club for the Good Dog Foundation and the Saugerties School Continuing Education Program. Elly is also a leader of three 4H clubs and a wildlife rehabilitation specialist.

If your dog has special needs, such as medication or a special diet, you can rest assured that your pets needs will be attended to. Every dog will have at least one daily romp in the exercise yard, and additional exercise time or walks can be purchased.

Dogwood Kennels features 18 indoor/outdoor kennel runs, 2 indoor only kennel runs, and a large exercise yard. The kennel has radiant floor heat. The kennels are housed in a warm and cozy log cabin style building with radiant floor heat.

Does your dog like to watch television? Dogwood Kennel's VIP room features a couch and television. The Monfett family children will occasionally join the dogs and play with them. This room is ideal for that pampered pooch. The VIP Room is available at a rate of $30.00 per night for one dog, and $20.00 for each additional family dog.

Dogwood Kennel's office hours are 8am to 6pm daily, except Tuesday and Sunday, which are by appointment only. In the summer months and around the holidays are particularly busy times so it is important to make your reservations early during those times of year.

Grooming services are offered by Elly, who is a very experienced groomer. She offers flea and medicated baths, flea treatments, nail trimmings and baths for a modest fee.
